STORY 01 / THE LITTLE ATELIER
Click to cycle: blank → × → ○. Use arrow keys to move; X, O or Delete to mark.
Unique means exactly one of the 36 possible complete arrangements satisfies every clue. A hint is a fact true in every compatible arrangement, with a small set of supporting clues. This is separate from a human-style solving path.

MAKE YOUR FIRST CONNECTION
You don’t need to guess. Start with one certain thing, then see what it rules out.
Each label is used exactly once. If Mira has the Moon bowl, mark that pair with ○. Mira cannot have either other object, and nobody else can have the Moon bowl: those four cells get ×. Each row and column eventually has one ○.
“Earlier” allows any earlier time. “Consecutive” means neighboring slots in either order. “Immediately to the left” fixes both the direction and a one-position gap. Lantern Lane uses left-to-right houses in this same collection; it is a position (or zebra) logic grid.
Suppose Oren is at 10 am, and the Leaf pin is earlier than Oren. The only earlier slot is 9 am, so pair the Leaf pin with 9 am. If Tavi is not at 9 am, and Oren is already at 10 am, Mira must be at 9 am. Now Mira has the Leaf pin. Every step follows a clue or the one-of-each rule.
Our bounded solver checks every arrangement: zero means contradictory, one means unique, more than one means underconstrained. If the time budget runs out, the answer is unknown. “Exactly one of A or B” is exclusive OR; “at least one” allows both. Uniqueness alone is not a difficulty rating or a promise of a human-style route.
